My blog is moving…

Posted in Mind Flow on December 4th, 2011 by Chris – Be the first to comment

Hello faithful readers! Effective immediately, I am moving this blog over to Tumblr. Why? Two reasons:

1) I find tumblr to be a more effective blogging tool for my personal needs.

B) I would like to use the ChrisWeinkauf.com domain as a website for my side business I am starting.

You can now find my blog at http://www.tumblr.com/blog/ubiquitouschris. I will eventually get a real domain for that. So please, update your feed readers or whatnot and happy reading. :)

Rest in peace, Steve.

Me: *sigh*

Dave: sup brah

Me: Install Acrobat X.

Go into preferences, tell it not to check for updates.

Quit Acrobat X.

Acrobat X update notification appears.

*bangs head on desk*

Dave: lulz, clearly you’ve never used Adobe software in your life

Me: Oh no, I have. I just have to wonder… has Adobe?

48 Hours That Changed Our Lives

Posted in Final Cut Pro, Mac, Video on August 2nd, 2011 by Chris – 1 Comment

You may have noticed that it’s been a bit since my last real post, and there’s good reason for that. Over this past weekend, I participated in the 48 Hour Film Project, a film festival that happens around the nation every year for the past ten years. This will be it’s eighth year coming to Denver. Teams compete against each other to make the best short film from start to finish in 48 hours and, let me tell you, 48 hours is not enough.

As much as I would love to dive in and tell you the story of our process right now, I can’t without revealing the plot of the film! I can tell you it’s called “The Knight’s Reveal” and it’s a tale of love lost and of love’s revenge. It’s premiering this Sunday at The Gothic Theater in Denver and we can’t show the general public our finished product until it has been screened and judged. In the meantime, I am working on drafting up a post with the full story from my point of view to be released later next week. Keep an eye out for that and the movie coming to you here later next week. Until then…

How to make a Mac have a bad day.

Posted in Apple, Geekin Out, Mac, Mac OS on July 19th, 2011 by Chris – 2 Comments

Wanna make a Mac have a rough time? Try opening every application on your Mac open over and over again.

Open up the Terminal in your Applications/Utilities folder and type in the following:

x=0
while [ $x == 0 ];do open -n /Applications/*; done

then watch the sparks fly! This is a great way to performance test a Mac.

PLEASE NOTE: This could have bad ramifications. I take no responsibility if you break your system. Do this at your own risk. You will probably have to force your Mac to restart after doing this. Also, if you do this in an Apple store, you will probably get banned. ;)
